Controller and scope
Dipl.-Ing. Mario Comanici, BSc.contact@comanici.devDipl.-Ing. Mario Comanici, BSc. is responsible for the processing of personal data described here. You can contact me at the email address above. This policy applies to the English and German versions of this website, including the retro view.
Hosting and technical access data
This website is hosted on the Hobby plan of Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States. Vercel provides the service through globally distributed infrastructure. Processing is not guaranteed to take place exclusively in Austria or the EU.
When you request a page or file, the hosting infrastructure receives the connection data needed to serve it, particularly your IP address, the time and target of the request, and the HTTP headers sent by your browser. These may include browser and operating system details and the referring page, if transmitted. Vercel also processes technical status, error and security information.
Serving this website, resolving technical faults and preventing abusive access are based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest is to make the website reliably and securely accessible.
Vercel specifies a retention period of one hour for runtime logs available in the Hobby dashboard. This is not a general deletion deadline for all infrastructure or security data. For data that Vercel processes as an independent controller, retention depends on the relevant operational and security purposes and legal obligations; Vercel describes these criteria in its privacy notice.
Contact by email
If you send me an email, I process your email address, your name if provided, your message and attachments, and technical delivery information. The email service is provided by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. There is no contact form on this website.
I use this data to read and respond to your enquiry and handle the related correspondence. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is to handle incoming messages appropriately. Where your enquiry concerns a contract with you or pre-contractual steps you have requested, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR applies.
I retain correspondence for as long as needed to handle and follow through on the enquiry. It is then deleted unless a legal retention obligation or the necessary establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims requires continued retention. In those cases, further retention is limited to that purpose and the period it requires.
Language, appearance and local storage
The website stores settings you expressly choose in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). These entries contain no unique visitor identifier and are not used for tracking.
“preferred-locale” stores your chosen language (“de” or “en”). “preferred-theme” stores your chosen appearance (“light” or “dark”). When no language choice is saved, the website takes your browser’s language preferences into account. When no appearance choice is saved, light mode is used.
These settings are stored and read solely to provide the preferences you selected, under section 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021 (TKG 2021). To the extent personal data is involved, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is to provide your requested language and appearance.
The entries have no fixed expiry date. They remain until you make a different selection or clear this website’s data in your browser. Unlike cookies, localStorage entries are not automatically sent to the server. You can block local storage in your browser; the website remains usable, but may no longer remember your choices.
Analytics, cookies and external content
No visitor analytics, advertising trackers, Vercel Web Analytics or Speed Insights are enabled on this website. The application does not set tracking or advertising cookies. This is separate from the technical processing by the hosting provider described above.
Text is displayed using system fonts available on your device. Images and project previews are served with the website; no external videos, maps or social media plugins are embedded. External websites, such as GitHub, project websites and publication repositories, are opened through ordinary links. If you follow one of these links, the respective provider’s privacy information applies.
Recipients and international transfers
Recipients may include the hosting and email providers named above and technical service providers required for their operation. Data may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to establish or defend legal claims. I do not sell visitor data or share it with third parties for their own advertising.
Vercel’s global infrastructure means that data may also be processed outside the European Economic Area, particularly in the United States. Vercel states in its privacy notice that it participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and refers to standard contractual clauses or other appropriate transfer mechanisms where additional safeguards are needed. Details of these safeguards are available in the linked Vercel documents.
Vercel states that it also acts as an independent controller for personal operational data generated by its service. The specific allocation of responsibilities depends on the applicable contractual terms. This policy does not assert that a processor agreement under Article 28 GDPR has been confirmed for this Hobby plan.
Your data protection rights
Subject to the legal conditions, you have the right to access your personal data (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18) and data portability (Article 20). Portability applies in particular to automated processing based on consent or a contract. You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
To exercise your rights, send a message to the contact address above. I generally respond within one month; legally permitted extensions and exceptions may apply. Where a service provider processes data as an independent controller, you may also exercise your rights directly with that provider.
Objecting to processing based on legitimate interests
You may object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Article 21 GDPR). The processing will then stop unless compelling legitimate grounds can be demonstrated that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Right to lodge a complaint
If you believe that the processing of your personal data infringes data protection law, you may complain to a supervisory authority, particularly in the country of your habitual residence, place of work or the alleged infringement (Article 77 GDPR). In Austria, this is the Austrian Data Protection Authority, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna. You do not have to contact me before making a complaint.
Voluntary information and automated decisions
You do not need to create an account or enter contact details to visit the website. However, the website cannot be delivered to your browser without the technically necessary connection data. Contacting me and providing information in your message are voluntary; without a reachable contact address, I may be unable to reply.
I do not use automated decision-making, including profiling, with legal or similarly significant effects within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR on this website.
Changes to this policy
This policy describes the current operation as a private website using Vercel hosting and IONOS email. It will be updated if the services used change or the website is used for business. The date of this version appears at the beginning of the page.
